Bee School covers various topics such as bee biology, equipment, hive management, pest management, safety and troubleshooting your hive. Our instructors are comprised of experienced beekeepers who will share a wealth of knowledge with you in a variety of formats.
Please note, the curriculum will be spread over the two consecutive Saturdays, and participants will receive an agenda closer to the start of Bee School. Topics covered will be discussed and demonstrated during monthly Bee School follow-up sessions at CABA’s teaching apiary located on the grounds of the Governor’s Mansion.
The two-day intensive will provide a great deal of information in a very short amount of time. There is no possible way to absorb everything that you need to know in this amount of time and for those who are planning to attend this accelerated course we would highly recommend attending the CABA monthly meetings to reinforce what you have learned. We will also offer a follow-up session shortly before installation day so Bee School attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and refresh details before the bees arrive!
Bee School will take place in person in The Crestwood Community Clubhouse, 15 High Ridge Trail., Concord, NH 03301.
Registration to Bee School includes a textbook, monthly live apiary onsite meet-ups at the Bridges House for hands on learning and mentorship, and CABA Club Membership through September 2026.
The textbook we will be using has arrived, and we would like to make it available to you before the sessions start so you can have some level of familiarity with the material. It's not necessary to become fluent in the topics.
On Day 1, we will focus on Chapters 1, 2, and through page 40 of Chapter 3. On Day 2, we will focus on pages 52 - 58 of Chapter 4, and Chapters 5 and 9.
We will cover some of the other material in the book during the beekeeping season at our monthly meetings.
You can either pick up your book at our January 14 or February 11 club meeting, or have it mailed to you with the cost of postage.
In person: Crestwood Community Clubhouse, 15 High Ridge Trail, Concord NH 03301, anytime between 7 - 9 pm. Feel free to stay for the meeting if you'd like!

Please note any refunds requested after textbooks have been picked up/sent will be made less the cost of the book which is $25.
Lunch will be served both days and will include sandwiches, salads, chips, and cookies.
The funds collected through Bee School support the educational mission of the club for the coming year. Membership in CABA provides monthly education based meetings, mentors to assist you while you are putting what you have learned into action, as well as access to the private Facebook group where additional knowledge exchange occurs.
